propaganda poster

For my poster I decided to depict myself as a spokesperson for this country. As we all know America and the world is under a grave amount of stress and possibly danger. This corona virus outbreak has caused so much disrupt and damage to every day life; businesses closing, children and college students staying home from school, and everyone engaging in this so called act of "social distancing." I am well aware that this pandemic is serious, but people have begun to lose their humanity. Panic shoppers rushing to the stores to buy everything off the shelves, travel bans, and so much more. I am truly sorry that we as people have to endure such a terrible time right now, it sometimes feels like there is no hope and we have lost everything that makes us feel human and even feel alive. We are no longer allowed to go to restaurants, bars, movie theaters, I can't even find my favorite flavor of Ice cream on the shelves. I only hope that this pandemic will be over quickly, but I am pretty certain that the worst is yet to come. I decided to create my poster to display a glimmer of hope, to show that everything will eventually be ok, and that we as people need not to lose sight of that.

In terms of the artistic aspect of my poster I truly think I did a very good job. I spent countless hours on this poster, and I honestly do not think I could have produced any better of a poster, especially considering what we are enduring. I decided to use a photo for my portrait from a day that I walked around with friends and had a mini photo shoot to reminisce on better times. I suppose if I had the time, if I mad the face slightly closer in color to the neck that may have been beneficial. However, all in all I am very proud of this project.

  1. I really appreciate the upbeat attitude behind your poster! I agree where you're coming from in a lot of ways about COVID-19 and I think that there are a lot of actions from many people in our society that should be dialed back a bit. However, I like that you completely changed the background in your poster to really make your face pop! To me, that really brings home the "propaganda poster" feel. Another thing that I think you did really well on would be your hair! I think that it looks really good and I bet that took quite some time with the pen tool and is probably a pain to change the colors on those now haha. But something that I think I would tweak if i was you, I think that the gradient mesh in the skin tones is in a weird spot between too complex and not complex enough, I think that the poster might be more effective if you simplified the skin tones to maybe only have 2 or 3 colors. I personally just think that it may clash a little too much with the simple colors in the background. Overall I think that you have a really nice project here! Good job!
