Calligram

For this assignment I decided to do a calligram of a giraffe. Originally I was going to do binoculars with the lyrics of a queen song within the shape. Then, right when I was about to start the project in my room, it hit me, I should do a giraffe! The image above was the image I used to base off of in order to create my calligram. I chose to do a giraffe because giraffes are my favorite animal of all time. To me, giraffes are cute, sweet, and funny looking animals so I think that's why I love them so much. When I was young I would go to the zoo and beg my parents to take me to the giraffe feeding location, and every time we would go I would be so excited to see and feed the animals.

In my calligram I chose to use words that reminded me of a giraffe. I used words like happy, hungry, lovely, tall and several other words to fill in the giraffes body. I tried to use different fonts and sizes in order to differentiate specific parts of the animal. I think that I definitely could have used some more different font shapes and sizes to make the illustration even better. I also think that it would have been beneficial to use more than just the few words I used to fill its body. However, at the end of the day I think I did a pretty good job on this project, especially considering it was my first time using Adobe Illustrator.
